Roof systems

Which Metal Roof Systems Does PMRS Install?

We install six families of metal roofing and sheet metal, and we fabricate most of what goes on the roof ourselves. Each card links to a full guide with specs, colors and the jobs each system suits best.

Dark gray standing seam metal roof on a modern home with wood siding

Standing Seam Metal Roofing

Concealed-clip panels with raised seams, in snap lock and mechanical lock profiles from 1 to 2 inches tall. We form them from steel, aluminum, copper or zinc.

Gray stone-coated steel shake roof on a large two-story brick home

Stone-Coated Steel Roofing

DECRA shake, shingle and tile profiles made of pressed steel with a stone-chip surface. From the street they read like wood shake or clay tile, without the weight of tile or the upkeep of wood.

Dark brown Country Manor Shake aluminum roof on a brick home with stone accents

Metal Shingles and Shakes

Interlocking steel shingles from EDCO and aluminum shingles from Classic Metal Roofing Systems. Their cedar, slate and Spanish-tile looks help many roofs clear HOA review.

Red corrugated metal roofing panels loaded on a flatbed trailer

Corrugated and PBR Panels

Exposed-fastener corrugated, 7.2 rib, PBR and RPBR panels for shops, barns, barndominiums, porches and metal buildings. The same profiles also make tough wall panels.

White box gutter and downspout on a modern building with a glass railing

Flashing, Trim and Gutters

Drip edge, valleys, coping, chimney caps and gutters, including stainless Yankee gutters and custom box gutters. Every piece is bent to match the roof it finishes.

Coatings and Colors

Kynar 500 PVDF, Tedlar PVF film, crinkle and SMP finishes over Galvalume steel or aluminum. Light cool colors bounce back more of the Texas sun.

Manufactured and installed by one company

Why Does It Matter That One Company Makes and Installs Your Roof?

When one company forms the panels, bends the trim and installs the roof, nothing gets lost between a supplier, a sheet metal shop and a subcontractor. That control is how PMRS keeps quality up and cost down.

Our roll-forming equipment, including a trailer-mounted roll former, turns flat coil into panels cut to the length of each run. On most homes, that means one piece from eave to ridge with no end laps to seal. Trim and flashing are bent on computerized equipment, so every hem and angle repeats exactly.

That consistency is more than cosmetic. Parts formed to tight, repeatable tolerances go on without forcing, which helps a roof resist the crazing, cracking and oil canning that show up when pieces are made to fit on site.

  • Panels roll-formed in-house from 26, 24 or 22 gauge steel, aluminum, copper or zinc
  • Trim, flashing and custom parts bent on computerized equipment
  • Shop drawings and project engineering when a job calls for them
  • Lifetime non-prorated limited warranty on PMRS standing seam roofs, covering material and labor

Read the terms on our warranties page, or follow a roof from tear-off to final trim in our installation process.

Built for North Texas weather

Is a Metal Roof Worth It in Dallas-Fort Worth?

For most DFW owners who plan to stay, yes. A well-installed metal roof handles hail, heat and wind better than asphalt shingles, and it typically lasts two to three times as long.

How does metal hold up to North Texas hail?

Hail is the defining roof problem here. Many metal roofing products carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating; EDCO, for example, rates its ArrowLine Shake and Generations HD steel shingles Class 4. In that test, a 2-inch steel ball dropped from 20 feet must not crack or rupture the roofing.

Class 4 is about keeping water out, not about never denting. Thicker metal dents less, and 24-gauge steel is roughly 28 percent thicker than 26-gauge. Texas insurers set their own credits for impact-rated roofs, so ask your agent what they require. Our Class 4 metal roofing guide explains the details.

Does a metal roof help with Texas heat?

DFW summers bring triple-digit days and very high UV that bake asphalt shingles. Cool-color PVDF finishes reflect much of that sunlight back. EPA says ENERGY STAR cool roofs can run up to 100 F cooler at the surface. Oak Ridge National Laboratory research found cool metal roofing can trim annual cooling costs by up to 25 percent compared with dark asphalt.

How long will it last compared with shingles?

Asphalt shingles in DFW heat and hail often need replacing within 15 to 20 years. A professionally installed metal roof typically lasts 40 to 70 years in Texas with light upkeep. Kynar 500 solid colors also carry 30-year finish warranties from the coil coater. Compare every option in our metal roofing systems overview.

Published pricing

How Much Does a Metal Roof Cost in DFW?

Our installed price for 24-gauge Galvalume standing seam with a Kynar 500 finish is $15 per square foot of roof surface on a house. At that rate, a roof with 2,000 square feet of surface comes to about $30,000 before tear-off and add-ons.

Removing one existing layer adds $1.25 per square foot. Steep pitches, pipe boots, skylights and vented ridge add to the total. These prices were last updated in October 2026.

Run your own numbers in about a minute with the metal roof cost calculator. Your written estimate confirms the final price after we measure the roof.

What Kinds of Projects Has PMRS Completed?

Our project records name the panel, the metal and the finish, because those choices decide how a roof performs. Two past jobs show the range of what we build.

  • A low-slope home in 1.5-inch mechanical lock, double-locked for its uplift requirements. About 10,000 square feet of .032 aluminum in Charcoal Gray, Silver Metallic and Regal White covered roofs, walls and soffits, with roof panels up to 100 feet long, stainless Yankee gutters and a weather-tightness warranty.
  • A retail building in 1.5-inch snap lock on a steep slope, formed from .032 aluminum with a matte black Tedlar finish and custom box gutters.

Metal Roofing Questions From DFW Homeowners

How long does a metal roof last in Dallas-Fort Worth?

A professionally installed metal roof typically lasts 40 to 70 years in Texas, while asphalt shingles in DFW heat and hail often need replacing in 15 to 20 years. Gauge, finish and installation details decide where a roof lands in that range. PVDF finishes such as Kynar 500 hold their color the longest.

Will a metal roof stop hail damage?

No roof is immune to hail, but metal holds up far better than asphalt. Many metal products carry a UL 2218 Class 4 rating, meaning a 2-inch steel ball dropped from 20 feet did not crack or rupture them. Very large hail can still dent thinner metal, which is why 24-gauge steel, about 28 percent thicker than 26-gauge, is worth considering.

Can I get an insurance discount for a Class 4 metal roof in Texas?

Often, but the size of the credit is up to your insurer. The Texas Department of Insurance lets each company set its own discount for UL 2218 impact-rated roofing and decide what proof it accepts. Ask your agent before you pick a product, and keep the product documentation from your installation.

Can my HOA stop me from installing a metal roof?

Texas Property Code 202.011 limits an HOA’s power to ban impact-resistant or energy-efficient shingles that look like the roofs the subdivision already allows. Metal shingles and stone-coated steel often fit that rule. Standing seam is usually a design-approval request, so plan to submit colors and spec sheets for review; we can supply both.

What is the difference between snap lock and mechanical lock standing seam?

Snap lock panels click together over concealed clips and need at least a 3/12 slope. Mechanical lock panels are folded shut with a seaming tool to 90 or 180 degrees, which adds uplift strength and lets them run as low as 1/2:12. Mechanically seamed systems seamed to spec can also qualify for a weather-tightness warranty.

Does PMRS sell metal roofing materials to contractors?

Yes. Contractors and builders can order panels, trim, flashing, clips, underlayment and sealants from us, along with spec sheets, take-offs and shop drawings. Call the Mesquite office or send the estimate form with your plans to start a materials quote.

What warranty comes with a PMRS metal roof?

PMRS standing seam roofs carry our Lifetime Non-Prorated Limited Warranty covering material and labor. Finish warranties come from the coil coater, such as 30 years on Kynar 500 solid colors. See our warranties page for the full terms and exclusions.
