Classic’s original aluminum shingle
Rustic Shingle Metal Roof Systems for DFW Homes
A Rustic Shingle metal roof is built from small, deeply formed aluminum panels that look like hand-split wood shingles. Classic Metal Roofing Systems has made it since 1980. Its 24-inch module makes it our first pick for cut-up roofs with dormers, turrets and short valleys.

What makes Rustic Shingle different?
Size and history. Each panel is only 24 inches wide and 12 inches tall, half the width of Country Manor Shake. It takes 50 panels to cover 100 square feet. The small module follows a complicated roof closely and keeps the shingle scale right on small planes.

The texture is deep and rugged, closer to a split wood shingle than a sawn one. Classic calls it its flagship and reports more than 100 million square feet installed worldwide. The panels interlock on four sides with concealed fasteners.
Because the metal is aluminum, the roof cannot rust or rot. It also weighs only about 42 pounds per square.

Which DFW homes suit Rustic Shingle?
Homes with a lot going on above the gutter line. Think Victorian and storybook cottages, Tudors with steep gables, and newer custom homes with several dormers.
Older and historic-style homes
Its traditional grain fits older architecture better than a modern rib. In conservation or historic districts, city staff often review roof changes, so bring a sample to that meeting. In HOA communities, Texas Property Code 202.011 helps when a hail-resistant shingle resembles the approved look.
Storms and sun
Hail is an annual event here, and Texas has now led all states in major hail events 11 years running. The deep grain disguises small dents, and aluminum will not crack. If a Class 4 credit matters, see our Class 4 roof guide and ask us to confirm the current listing. The PVDF finish resists chalking under strong Texas UV.
Trees and gutters
Classic’s self-cleaning valley helps leaves wash through rather than pile up. That matters under big shade trees. We pair it with properly sized gutters for spring downpours.
How PMRS installs Rustic Shingle on complex roofs
Small panels mean many more interlocks and cuts, so layout is where the job is won.
- We plan course lines around every dormer before the first panel goes down, so rows meet cleanly on both sides.
- The deck is checked and repaired, then covered with underlayment rated for metal roof temperatures.
- Classic’s starter strip, drip edge, gable trim and self-cleaning valley go on as designed.
- Dormer cheeks, step flashing, chimney saddles and turret transitions are made from aluminum on our computerized brakes; see our custom flashing.
- Fasteners and flashing are aluminum or stainless, never copper or plain steel, to avoid galvanic corrosion.
Rustic Shingle colors
Classic lists 12 colors: Black, Brite Red, Buckskin, Caramel, Deep Charcoal, Forest Green, Mustang Brown, Oceanside Blue, Shake Gray, Terra Red, Vermont Slate and White. Oceanside Blue is unique to this profile among the Classic systems we install.

Our roof color chart shows how each tone handles heat and pairs with brick.
Rustic Shingle vs Country Manor Shake and Generations HD
All three give a wood look. They differ in panel size, metal and finish.
- Country Manor Shake uses 48-inch aluminum panels with random-width shakes and an air space. It covers large, simple slopes faster.
- EDCO Generations HD is steel with a printed cedar grain and a Class 4 rating from EDCO. It weighs about 74 pounds per square.

Rustic Shingle questions
How is Rustic Shingle different from Country Manor Shake?
Both are Classic aluminum shakes. Rustic Shingle uses smaller 24-inch panels with a deeply formed hand-split texture and has been made since 1980. Country Manor Shake uses 48-inch panels with eight random-width shakes and a larger, looser pattern.
Why do smaller panels matter on a complex roof?
Every hip, valley, dormer and wall needs a cut. A 24-inch panel keeps joints close to where the roof changes direction, so courses stay straight and less metal is wasted. It also keeps the scale right on small planes such as porch roofs and turrets.
Is Rustic Shingle rated for high winds?
Classic’s specifications rate Rustic Shingle for winds up to 120 mph, and the profile has passed UL 580 uplift testing. The four-way interlock and concealed fasteners leave no exposed edge for wind to lift.
Does Rustic Shingle qualify for a Class 4 insurance credit?
Classic has announced UL 2218 Class IV hail results for Rustic Shingle in trade publications, and its product page lists a UL impact report. Texas carriers set their own documentation rules. We confirm the current listing and labels with you before ordering.
Can Rustic Shingle be used as wall siding?
Yes. The Texas Department of Insurance has evaluated the same panel as an exterior wall covering over solid sheathing. It works well on gables, dormer cheeks and accent walls that should match the roof.
Classic’s warranty terms and our own are laid out on the warranty page.
