What’s the difference between shingles and shake?

Shingles are one of the most popular types of roofing material for homes and buildings today. Shingles are made from asphalt or metal and have a plastic layer that protects them from the elements. They are generally easy to install, and they come in many different colors and styles to suit your aesthetic preferences. They also last longer than shake because they do not absorb water as easily.

Shake on the other hand does not have a plastic layer like shingles do. Shake is more susceptible to damage caused by moisture because it lacks this protective layer. Shake also requires more maintenance than shingles, which makes it more expensive over time if you factor in the extra time it takes to clean the roof after storm damage or snowfall events.
