Metal Roofs for Flower Mound’s 1990s Homes and Cross Timbers Acreage
Four in ten Flower Mound housing units were built in the 1990s, according to Census estimates, so a large part of the town is now around 30 years old and many homes are on a second roof or due for one. Permanent Metal Roofing Systems gives those owners a way off the shingle cycle: our own crews install standing seam, metal shakes and stone-coated steel on the houses, plus PBR and corrugated roofs for barns and shops on the larger lots of the Cross Timbers district. From our Mesquite office the town is about 36 miles out, which is why Flower Mound appointments are set in advance and combined with other Denton County calls.

Roof Types We See Around Flower Mound
Subdivisions from the 1990s and 2000s, Wellington and Bridlewood among them, are largely brick-veneer two-storeys on generous lots, with composition roofs of several planes. Each place where those planes meet a wall, a dormer or a chimney needs flashing that fits, which is why we bend ours in-house to match the panels and color. Canyon Falls, Lakeside and other neighborhoods built since 2010 add luxury homes with larger, more detailed roofs, where DECRA tile, a slate-look metal shingle or copper accents make sense. The Cross Timbers Conservation Development District is a different landscape: the town plans it for mostly residential use on generally larger lots, so a house there may share its land with a barn, stable or shop.
We serve Wellington, Bridlewood, Canyon Falls and Lakeside, acreage in the Cross Timbers Conservation Development District, and homes near Grapevine Lake and the FM 2499 corridor.
Weather Notes for a Flower Mound Metal Roof
On the evening of June 11, 2023, a trained spotter reported quarter- to tennis-ball hail in Flower Mound, and a social media photo logged in the National Weather Service’s storm reports showed a 4.25-inch stone near Cross Timbers Road and Shiloh Road, bigger than a softball. Less than a year later, on May 22, 2024, several reports of quarter-size hail came in from around town. Stones like the 2023 ones can break shingles and dent even heavy-gauge metal, so we point Flower Mound owners toward 24-gauge standing seam or textured profiles rated Class 4 under UL 2218 by their makers. Ask your insurer how it credits a Class 4 roof, because each company sets its own discount.
- Metal roofing systems with UL 2218 Class 4 ratings available, with the documentation insurers ask for
- Photo-documented roof inspections after hail and wind
- A written, itemized scope you can share with your adjuster

Metal Roofing Systems We Install in Flower Mound
For the brick two-storeys, DECRA Shake XD stone-coated steel or an EDCO ArrowLine metal shake gives the dimensional look architectural committees recognize, and EDCO rates ArrowLine Class 4. Snap lock or mechanical lock standing seam suits contemporary custom homes and the low porch roofs on traditional ones. On Canyon Falls and Lakeside luxury homes, copper or zinc can roof a bay, turret or entry and weather to a natural patina. Out on Cross Timbers acreage, PBR and corrugated panels cover barns, stables and shops more economically than standing seam, in colors that can match the house.
Standing Seam Roofs
Snap lock and mechanical lock panels with concealed clips, formed in Mesquite or on site and run the full length of each Flower Mound roof slope.
Stone-Coated Steel
DECRA shake, shingle and tile profiles that keep a traditional look on Flower Mound homes in HOA neighborhoods.
Metal Shingles and Shakes
Aluminum and steel shakes and slate-look shingles for homeowners who want metal performance without a ribbed look.
Corrugated and PBR Roofs
Corrugated and PBR panels for homes, shops, barns, carports and porches around Flower Mound.
Copper and Zinc Roofing
Standing seam, flat lock and diamond patterns in metals that age instead of fading.
Metal Roof Repair
Repairs for standing seam, PBR, corrugated and metal shingle roofs, with the cause written down.

Approvals Before a Flower Mound Metal Roof Goes On
Reroof is one of the permit types the Town of Flower Mound accepts online through its eTRAKiT portal, and we file it for you once the roof system is chosen. HOA review is usually the bigger step. Wellington, Bridlewood, Canyon Falls and most neighborhoods built after 1990 have architectural committees, and those committees cannot simply refuse hail-resistant roofing: under Property Code section 202.011, shingles designed to resist wind and hail are protected when they look like the roofing already approved, fit in with neighboring homes and equal or exceed that roofing in quality. Color remains the committee’s call. A barn or shop on a Cross Timbers property gets the same planning, and we check with the town whether it needs a permit of its own.

Flower Mound Metal Roof Questions
What should a Flower Mound owner with a 1990s house check before re-roofing?
Start with the deck and the attic. After about 30 years, plywood near the eaves and around old roof penetrations can be soft, and attic ventilation may not match current code. We check both at the estimate, then recommend a system your HOA is likely to accept, usually stone-coated steel or a metal shake, with standing seam where the committee allows it.
Can you roof a barn or stable on a Cross Timbers property along with the house?
Yes, and one estimate can cover both. Barns, stables and shops usually take exposed-fastener PBR or corrugated panels, which span wide framing and go on quickly, while the house gets standing seam or a metal shake. One color family across every building ties the property together, and handling the work as one project can simplify scheduling.
Would a Class 4 metal roof have come through the June 2023 Flower Mound hail without a mark?
Not necessarily. The UL 2218 Class 4 test uses steel balls up to 2 inches across, and stones over 4 inches were reported in town that night. A Class 4 metal roof is much less likely to be punctured or leak than shingles in hail like that, but it can dent. Heavier 24-gauge panels and the granular face of stone-coated steel disguise marks, so also ask your carrier whether the policy carries a cosmetic-damage exclusion.
How long does a metal roof installation take in Flower Mound?
Most homes take a few working days once the panels are formed, depending on size, pitch, tear-off and weather. Your estimate includes a time frame, and our office keeps you posted on the schedule.
