Metal roof installation in Trophy Club, TX
Metal Roofing for Trophy Club’s Golf-Course Neighborhoods
Trophy Club began in 1973 as homes laid out around a country club, and the Hogan and Whitworth courses still shape its streets, its views and a good share of its rooflines. Permanent Metal Roofing Systems installs DECRA stone-coated steel, metal shakes and shingles, snap lock and mechanical lock standing seam, and copper or zinc accents for owners here who want a roof that outlasts the next hailstorm and still looks at home on a golf-course street. Most of the town lies in Denton County and a sliver crosses into Tarrant, about 41 miles from our Mesquite office. Panels come off our roll former, in the Mesquite shop or parked at the house, and our own crews install them.

Roof Types We See Around Trophy Club
Trophy Club’s houses run from the first streets laid out near the clubhouse in the 1970s and 1980s to The Highlands at Trophy Club, zoned as a planned development in 2007 and built out over the following decade. Census figures place the median year built at 2002, and close to nine in ten homes are lived in by their owners. Many are two-story houses with complex roofs: hips, valleys, dormers and chimneys, the places where composition wears out first. Some of the older homes near the club may already be wearing a second or third set of shingles. A metal shingle or stone-coated shake keeps the textured appearance those streets expect, while standing seam suits porches, bay windows and the more contemporary elevations.
We roof homes in The Highlands at Trophy Club, Turnberry, the Lakes of Trophy Club, Canterbury Hills, Hogan’s Glen and The Knoll, and on the streets around Trophy Club Country Club.
Trophy Club Hail, Wind and Heat: What a Roof Faces
Trophy Club has its own hail reports, not only its neighbors’. On the evening of April 28, 2021, golf-ball hail, 1.75 inches across, was reported in town, and ping-pong-ball stones fell two miles east on the Flower Mound side the same night. On May 27, 2024, a resident just north of Roanoke reported a 2-inch stone and roughly four minutes of hail, while quarter-size hail came down a mile east of Trophy Club. The impact ratings worth asking about come from the manufacturers: EDCO’s ArrowLine steel shake and DECRA’s stone-coated profiles are both listed at Class 4, the top class of the UL 2218 test. In standing seam, 24-gauge steel takes fewer cosmetic dents than 26. Every insurer decides its own credit for an impact-rated roof.
- Impact-rated standing seam, stone-coated steel and metal shingle options
- Heavier 24-gauge panels that resist cosmetic hail dents better than thinner steel
- Clip spacing and fastening planned for Texas wind uplift

Our Metal Roofing Work in Trophy Club, TX
Because the town code and most committees are written with shingles in mind, the systems we expect to propose most often in Trophy Club are the ones that look like shingles up close: steel shakes by EDCO, aluminum shakes and shingles by Classic Metal Roofing Systems, and DECRA’s stone-coated shake and shingle profiles. Standing seam fits porch roofs, bay windows and dormers, and low-slope sections take mechanical lock panels, which can go down to a half-inch-per-foot pitch over a solid deck. Copper, in 16-ounce standing seam or flat lock, suits an entry or turret on the largest homes. Every panel and trim piece is formed by PMRS, so color and finish stay consistent from ridge to eave.
Standing Seam Roofs

Metal Shingles and Shakes

Copper and Zinc Roofing

Trophy Club Estate Homes and the Metal Roofs Built for Them
Owners of Trophy Club’s larger homes, some on lots that back onto the Hogan or Whitworth course, usually ask three things of a new roof: an appearance the association will approve, an impact rating an insurer will recognize, and a finish that still looks right when the house goes on the market. Metal shakes and stone-coated profiles answer the first two without changing the character of the street. On cut-up roofs we bend valley metal, step flashing and counterflashing in our own shop to fit each chimney and wall. For a showpiece entry or bay, copper standing seam darkens to brown and, over the years, can turn green. PMRS standing seam is backed by a Lifetime Non-Prorated Limited Warranty. It covers material and labor, transfers one time when the home sells, and leaves acts of God such as hail to insurance.
- Ask your association for its current roofing guidelines and approved colors before you choose a profile.
- Look up the planned-development ordinance for your section; some, The Knoll’s included, set a minimum roof quality.
- Choose a Class 4 rated product and keep the manufacturer’s rating documents for your insurance agent.
- Save copper or zinc for the elevation people see most, often the entry or the side facing the course.
- File the transferable warranty paperwork with the house records so a future buyer receives it.

Trophy Club HOA Rules and City Permits for Metal
Two sets of rules apply here. Neighborhood associations, from The Highlands at Trophy Club and Turnberry to the Lakes of Trophy Club and Canterbury Hills, review roof changes, and the town notes that its permit does not exempt anyone from covenants or HOA rules. Town code sets its own floor: when shingles replace a quarter or more of a roof, they must be architectural or laminated grade, and some planned-development ordinances, such as those for The Knoll and Canterbury Hills, name 40-year composition as the minimum quality. Texas Property Code 202.011 keeps an association from banning impact-resistant or energy-saving shingles that resemble its approved roofs and equal their quality. We build the committee package, ask town staff how your metal system is classed, and file the re-roof application, which asks for the material and its warranty.

Trophy Club Metal Roof Questions
Trophy Club code calls for architectural shingles on re-roofs. Can I still choose metal?
The code provision we have seen concerns shingle roofs: when shingles replace a quarter or more of a roof, they have to be architectural or laminated grade. Because the rule is written around shingles, we ask the town’s permit staff how your chosen metal system is treated and get your association’s written approval before anything is ordered. Metal shingles and stone-coated shakes, which read like architectural shingles from the street, are often the most straightforward case.
Our Highlands at Trophy Club roof is under 20 years old. Is switching to metal premature?
Not if storms have already worn it. The Highlands was zoned as a planned development in 2007, so its first roofs have been through the 2021 and 2024 hail reported in and around town. If an inspection finds bruised or cracked shingles, bare granule spots or lifted edges, a metal roof replaces it once instead of again in another 15 to 20 years, about as long as composition usually lasts under DFW heat and hail.
Part of Trophy Club is in Tarrant County. Does that change the permit process?
No. The Town of Trophy Club issues permits throughout its limits, so a re-roof on the Tarrant County portion goes through the same permit desk and the same contractor registration as one in Denton County. What does change from street to street is the homeowners association and, in some sections, the planned-development ordinance that sets a roofing standard. We check both for your address before submitting anything.
Is the roof estimate in Trophy Club really free?
Yes. We inspect the roof, check the decking and flashing, measure every plane, and send a written estimate that lists each line of the job. There is no charge and no obligation, and Trophy Club is roughly 41 miles from our Mesquite base.
