Argyle Metal Roofs for Acreage Estates and Planned Neighborhoods
Argyle’s 2024 comprehensive plan puts one goal near the top: keep the rural feel as new houses arrive. That leaves two kinds of roofing work in town. One is acreage, where a house shares the land with barns, shops and sometimes an arena; the other is the planned neighborhoods, Harvest, Canyon Falls and Country Lakes among them, where an association typically reviews what goes on a roof. Permanent Metal Roofing Systems handles both, with standing seam, steel and aluminum shakes, DECRA stone-coated steel, PBR and corrugated panels for outbuildings, and copper or zinc where a house deserves it. Argyle is in Denton County, about 45 miles from our Mesquite office, and panels for a long barn or house slope can be formed right on your property with our mobile roll former.

Roof Types We See Around Argyle
The Census puts Argyle’s median year built at 2002 and its owner-occupancy at 92 percent, but those numbers blend two different housing stocks. Custom homes on acreage, many from the 1990s and 2000s, sit back from roads like FM 407 and Harpole Road, often with long ridgelines, tall chimneys and deep porches. Some parcels are working horse properties, with stall barns, tack rooms and turnout. The planned side of town is newer: Harvest, a 1,200-acre Hillwood community split between Argyle and Northlake, includes lots of one to three acres, and Canyon Falls reaches into Flower Mound and Northlake as well. On the custom houses, valleys and chimney flashing are usually the first things to fail; on older barns, it is the exposed fasteners and their dried-out washers.
We cover acreage along FM 407, Harpole Road and US 377, plus the Harvest, Canyon Falls, Country Lakes and Waterbrook neighborhoods in the Argyle area.
Weather Notes for a Argyle Metal Roof
Argyle’s hail record includes a night when baseball-size stones broke car windows in town: March 26, 2017, when 2-inch hail was also logged two miles north-northwest of Argyle. On April 1, 2024, viewers sent NBC DFW photos of golf-ball hail in Argyle around 7:30 p.m., while National Weather Service storm reports listed 2-inch hail in Corral City and 3-inch hail in Justin near FM 156 and FM 407. Barn and shop roofs take those hits too, and thin ag-grade sheet dents and cracks its paint first, so we steer outbuilding owners toward 26- or 24-gauge panels. On the house, manufacturer-rated Class 4 shakes or 24-gauge standing seam hold up best. Any impact-resistance discount is up to your insurer.
- Metal roofing systems with UL 2218 Class 4 ratings available, with the documentation insurers ask for
- Photo-documented roof inspections after hail and wind
- A written, itemized scope you can share with your adjuster

Metal Roofing Systems We Install in Argyle
Standing seam does most of the work on Argyle custom homes, with each panel running the full slope in one piece, leaving no end laps to leak, with mechanical lock on low porches and breezeways. Barns, shops, arenas and run-in sheds take PBR or corrugated panels, and PBR’s purlin-bearing leg at each side lap suits open purlin framing. In the planned neighborhoods, where committees often prefer a traditional texture, steel and aluminum shakes and DECRA stone-coated profiles blend in. Copper suits a cupola on a horse barn or the entry roof of a stone house, and zinc a contemporary farmhouse. We bend ridge caps, rake trim and flashing in our shop to match each panel color.
Standing Seam Roofs
Snap lock and mechanical lock panels with concealed clips, formed in Mesquite or on site and run the full length of each Argyle roof slope.
Stone-Coated Steel
A textured, low-glare metal roof that blends into established streets and passes most HOA design reviews.
Metal Shingles and Shakes
Aluminum and steel shakes and slate-look shingles for homeowners who want metal performance without a ribbed look.
Corrugated and PBR Roofs
Ribbed panels for barns, shops and porch roofs, cut to the length of each run before they reach the site.
Copper and Zinc Roofing
Natural copper and zinc in standing seam, flat lock or diamond panels for whole roofs, bays and turrets.
Metal Roof Repair
Leaks at seams, screws, pipe boots and flashing traced and fixed on Argyle metal roofs, ours or not.
Every Argyle roof is priced from its own measurements. The metal roof cost guide explains which choices move the number most, from pitch and tear-off to profile and metal.
Premium Metal Roofing for Argyle Custom Homes
An Argyle estate is often several roofs rather than one. The house may have a big, steep, cut-up roof, and next to it stand a stall barn, an equipment shop and perhaps a covered riding arena. Owners usually want them to read as one property, so we match colors across standing seam on the house and PBR on the outbuildings, and we form long barn and arena panels on site in single lengths. Horses add their own requirements: hem the trim and drip edge along stalls and paddocks so no raw cut edge faces an animal, and vent the barn ridge so summer heat escapes. On the house, a manufacturer Class 4 rating and careful flashing at stone chimneys protect both the interior and the value of the property.
- Confirm whether your lot is in Argyle, Northlake, Flower Mound or unincorporated Lantana before anyone applies for a permit.
- Pick one color family for the house, barn, shop and arena so the property reads as a whole.
- Ask for hemmed trim edges on barns and run-in sheds wherever horses can reach the roof line.
- Have long barn and arena panels formed on site in single lengths to avoid end laps.

Argyle HOA Rules and City Permits for Metal
Start with the address, because an Argyle mailing address does not always mean the Town of Argyle. Harvest is divided between Argyle and Northlake, Canyon Falls also extends into Flower Mound and Northlake, and Lantana, which uses the same 76226 ZIP code, is unincorporated. Inside town limits, permits are requested through Argyle’s online portal, contractors must be registered with the town and carry insurance, and inspections happen before work is covered and again at completion. The town says its list of permitted project types is not complete, so we confirm the re-roof requirements before scheduling. In association neighborhoods, an HOA may not forbid, under Property Code 202.011, storm-rated or energy-efficient shingles that look like its approved roofs, last longer and match their quality. Acreage free of covenants leaves the choice with the owner.

What Argyle Owners Ask About Metal Roofs
Can PMRS roof the house, barn and arena on our Argyle property as one project?
Yes. We measure every building during the visit and write one itemized estimate that separates each roof, so you can see the house’s standing seam and the outbuildings’ PBR or corrugated panels line by line. The work can be scheduled together or in phases. Matching color and trim across buildings is easier when one company forms all the panels and bends all the flashing.
Our Harvest address says Argyle, but the tax bill says Northlake. Who issues the roof permit?
The city whose limits contain your lot, not the one on the mailing label. Harvest straddles Argyle and Northlake, and Canyon Falls also runs into Flower Mound and Northlake, so neighbors on the same street can fall under different permit offices. We check the jurisdiction for your parcel and file with the right one, after the community association has approved the roof.
Does an old exposed-fastener barn roof in Argyle need replacing, or just new screws?
That depends on the panels. If the steel is sound and the leaks come from screws whose rubber washers have dried out, re-fastening with new sealing-washer screws, one size larger, can buy years. If hail has cracked the paint or rust has started at the laps and cut edges, new 26- or 24-gauge PBR or corrugated panels are the lasting fix. We tell you which after looking.
What should Argyle owners do first after a hailstorm?
Photograph the roof and any ceiling stains, then call us before signing anything. We document the damage with dated photos and measurements and write a scope for your adjuster. Your carrier decides coverage, and Texas law makes the deductible yours to pay.
